Let me rephrase the ??? Why oh why do SOME smokers think it is o.k. to throw their skanky cigarette butts anywhere they please???

Isn't that gross? I used to clean up around our local Post Office. People couldn't make it from their car to the door without a cigarette. They couldn't take them inside, so they'd throw them on the ground and sidewalk right at the door. Well, you know who had to pick them all up. I had a couple of people just dump their full ashtrays on the parking lot and I had to clean that up too. What's so hard about carrying a trashbag with you in your car? And are you so hooked that you can't walk 15 feet without one?

First, not all smokers do it. I have met some very conscientious smokers (although this tends not to be the norm).

Second, I think that they reason "well, it's such a small thing" that they don't see anything wrong with just throwing it on the ground. But the flaw in this reasoning is that although it is small, the butts REALLY add up.

Third, the craving for a cigarette can outweigh the likelihood that they don't have a place to properly and safely dispose of the butt. So since they didn't plan ahead, they are stuck with the butt that they just toss. Ugh.

Really, it's not nice to generalize. As a smoker who DOES NOT throw her "skanky cigarette butts" on the ground, I resent this question.

Unless one of them lands on your shoe and burns a hole in it, flies into your car through your open window and burns a hole in your seat, or otherwise harms you DIRECTLY, I'd find more important things to worry about. True, cigarette filters aren't biodegradable, but I'm willing to bet the car you drive every day doesn't exactly emit oxygen through it's muffler and exhaust pipe.

My My My, but we have a lot of judgmental people here. I am so glad that you all know every single smoker on this earth to be able to make your claims. Non- Smokers are the worst in a lot of ways, since when have you done no wrong? Do you recycle? Everything that yer suppose to?? I doubt it very much. So git off your high horses and shut the F U C K UP. I smoke, and I don't throw my butts all around, and I respect the non smoking areas. So F OFF.

Simply because they are inconsiderate and lazy. Not all smokers throw their butts on the ground, but then again not all nonsmokers make sure to put their gum wrappers or receipts in the trash where they belong.

Some people just don't care that they throw their trash on the ground where it ends up in our ocean. As long as they are not putting out their butts on the floor in their own home why should they care? (I'm not talking about ALL smokers, just the ones tthat don't care).

This is simple,. Because all the non smoking hoity toity's have removed all our ashtrays, and replaced them with a flower pot. No matter how hard you try, you cannot force people to stop smoking by removing ashtrays and putting up 'no smoking' signs. I always use an ashtray, unless of course there isn't one....

I say if you have a problem with it, then start a foundation for the placement of ashtrays in all public places....the way it used to be not too long ago!

I asked that a while back - have you EVER looked out the car window at a stop light and NOT seen a cigg butt? I hate that...I was walking through a parking lot and saw a lady flick her cigg out so I picked it up and flicked it back in her car! OH she was mad! She called me every name in the book! Doesn't every car come with an ashtray?

the real question is why do smokers think its ok to put a cigarette to their mouth and kill themselves.
