The cure for the common cold is a week to ten days.Unfortunalely there is nothing you can do once you are a day or two into the cold. However, most colds start with a sore throat or sneezing. For future refrence,at the first sign of a cold,RUN to the store and buy a product called cold-eze.Do not get the lozenges, get the little pills that disolve under your tongue. You must take them every hour for a day or two,and the cold will never come.It is zinc. This is a micacle product.I keep some in the medicine cabinet. You can prevent yourself from getting colds by keeping your hands clean all the time.If you are in the public, try not to shake hands.Good Luck!

There are many ideas but the reality is we have not yet found a cure for the cold. We have found some preventives such as Airborne, Vitamin C. There is a remedy of filling a bath tub full of hot water, pour in a box of Morton salt. While soaking drink a shot of whiskey. Maybe, this works because it makes you sweat and sleep.
The truth is I have never found a remedy that works after you have caught a cold.
Sorry, you feel bad - most of us have been there and you how miserable that can be. Just, keep in mind that soon you will feel good again. Watch a Video of I Love Lucy, laughter is not a cure but it does make you feel better.
Best of everything to you. Granny

Wow, "boring g" must be having a super bad day! G, next time you miss your therapy appointment, punch a pillow instead of yelling at someone who needs help.
Now for the original question: You can't cure the cold, but you can alleviate the symptoms. Drink plenty of liquids and get some rest. Eat as you normally would. I hope you feel better.

No true cures out there -- don't believe the homeopathic stuff.
Some discussion however on chicken soup helping out,. Its typically easier to treat the symptoms with some cold meds, and it will be gone in a few days.

Try "Ginger Tea"
Warm your digestive fire and prevent colds
Hot ginger tea is an excellent winter drink. You can use it to strengthen digestion, improve circulation, or ward off colds, sore throat and the flu.
It's very easy to make ginger tea. Here are the instructions:
Hot Ginger Tea
4 cups of water
2 inch piece of fresh ginger root
*optional: honey and lemon
Peel the ginger root and slice it into thin slices. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Once it is boiling, add the ginger. Cover it and reduce to a simmer for 15-20 minutes. Strain the tea. Add honey and lemon to taste.
Note: Keep in mind that if you are making this tea to strengthen the immune system and ward off colds and flu, sweeteners are not recommended.

Last time I had a bad cold my doctor actually suggested Mucinex...worked well. I also use that Zyban stuff which works good if you use it within a or 2 of the colds onset.

You can't cure it. You can stop the nasal symptoms with zinc tablets like COLDEEZE. It will take a week to go away no matter what you try.
