"Is this it?" "Is this all my life is?" I have been thinking that way for the past 2-3 years- lately it's gotten worse and it's sank me down- very far. I wanted to see if I was alone in this way of self-destructing way of thought?? What do you do about it? Right now I dont feel I have the energy to change what I know needs to be changed...

Yes, I have and i think that everyone does from time to time anyway. I will go through periods or lengths of time where I don't see any point or purpose to my life, and then suddenly I will feel differently about things and i don't even know the reason for the change of attitude. Does that ever happen to you, and you don't know why ? I am kind of an obssevive person and I think this could be one of the reasons why I fall into this type of rutt. I will find interests to keep me busy or things to keep me occupied but eventually they won't last and the excitement level will be reduced. Can you relate to any of this ? I believe that it is important to understand yourself better so that you can cope better during these rough times . Friends and family are good to help you overcome these feelings and sometimes they can be your downfall too. But the most important thing in life that will give you hope and to find out why you are on this planet is, without a doubt, God !

well, I would reccommend reading some books on Buddhism. If they aren't right about everything, they are close. Buddha stated there are four noble truths about reality:
1) Life is Suffering
2) The Origin of Suffering is Attachment
3) The Cessation of Suffering is Attainable
4) There is a Way that Leads to the Cessation of Suffering

One last note, most of their beliefs of the universe coincide with moden science. They are the only philosophy(religion?) that adapts and has no dogmatic law.

OK, you sound sad. How about a new Hobie, exercise, travel? All those are good ideas but if you've been this way for a while now, perhaps professional help will do for you. If small children are making you feel this way, just remember they will grow, maybe get worse, but its FUN! Just keep yourself healthy and try to keep motivated. Reading the Bible could help too. Or even the Koran

I have these thoughts, but not while I'm sitting around. I don't have time to sit around.

What I do about it is just keep adding what I like and removing what I don't. People (including my wife), possessions, accounts, whatever. No one is going to do it for me. Either I do it or it doesn't get done.

Now I love my life. I look forward to waking up in the morning and getting one step closer to my ultimate goal - very few possessions, one yacht, and the wide open sea.

Whenever we have money problems, those thoughts run through my head. But they usually go away pretty fast.
If it's something you are hanging on to, you need to be some professional help.

I don't think that exactly - but I do wonder what the point of it all is and why we must suffer so much...
