In September when we went back to our house in Louisiana the ground was covered with dirt deposited from the flood the storm washed in, there were a million flies on the ground. We walked in it and not thinking tracked it in the house then at night we went barefooted in the house. My husband and grandsons feet turned white on the bottom soles and had callus like blisters that pealed off. My husbands was cured with ointment. I got a tick bite between my toes and think it pushed something under the skin. In December I was in the hospital on IV antibiotics for a week and pill antibioitcs for 4 weeks. It never cleared up. Podiatrist said atheletes foot but the medication made it worse. Primary Dr gave me antifungal pills and the dead skin came off my little toe. Now I am using gentian violet and antifungal otc cream. Anybody have any suggestions. It still looks bad and hurts if I am standing any length of time. I have tried a variet of creams on my foot only to make it worse

First and foremost, you need to see an actual dermatologist -- and immediately. Way more important than implementing remedies imparted by (albeit well-meaning) people on Yahoo Answers. You were exposed to some pretty harsh substances and obviously have an infection of some sort -- not just dry or "chafed" skin -- and it hasn't been helped by your previous treatments.

Explain everything to him/her that you just did in that paragraph -- s/he needs to know your history thorougly. Better yet, print that up and bring it in (two copies), to make sure you cover everything. Use one copy to refer to while you explain your story, and give the other to the doctor, for his/her records.

Good luck -- I hope you get this thing cleared up once and for all.

Use grapefruit seed extract. You can get it as most health food stores. You take several drops in a glass of water. Costs about $10 and lasts for months, depending on how often you take it. Take it with food, it may be hard on your stomach if you have acid reflux, etc. It's a great anti-fungal, but from the severity of what you are describing, you might still need other meds in addition. Good luck.

Try bag balm ointment...NOT the lotion. The ointment looks like yellow colored petroleum jelly. Put it on your feet and then put on white socks before bed. Bag balm is made to treat the sore and chaffed nipples from cows who are milked so much. I have had success with bag balm and various skin issues.
