I think it depends on the breed and the age of the dog. I had a Pomeranian that lived to be 13 and his fur never turned white. It stayed a reddish/orange color. Then I had a cocker spaniel that lived to be 12 and his fur stayed black, even around his face.

White hair on the face, especially around the nose is how it happened to my dogs in their old age.

yes. My old man mastiff, Gino, is a brindle/blue neapolitan mastiff. He was a beautiful shiney blue-gray color. Now, he looks more white around face, paws, neck. He still looks like the most regal, powerful dog!!!

Yes, my 5 year old bloodhound mix started going grey around his muzzle last year.

Yes. My sweet 9yr old beagle has a very white face compared to my 6 month old beagle whose color is bright.

yes, we have a great dane and he has started showing his age which is sad 'cause they don't live long lives anyway....so it is sad to see, but we just keep loving him like he will be around for 20 years. but he was golden and his face was dark brown....now it is grey/white

yes,especially for some types of dogs,but it can happen to all of them.its just part of the aging process.like we get white or gray hair when we get older.

Yes dogs get "grey hair"...it makes them look distinguished.

They sometimes also get white hairs around where they have been scarred..(IE by cats)
