One of my cats has really dry skin, and dandruff really bad. I was looking online for something to do for her, and came across a tip that said baby powder would help.
Has anyone done this? and if so, does it work?

Do not put baby powder on your cat. It will lick it off and get sick. The best thing you can do for your cat is brush it, daily. You will help the oils spread and that will help get rid of the dandruff. Your cat may have a sore mouth and not be washing itself regularly. Have the vet check its mouth for bad teeth or gum disease. Good luck.

I think the powder may dry the skin altho I think baby powder is good to rid fleas if used from the neck down & not alot.Try bathing your cat with a skin softening shampoo such as oatmeal shampoo for cats or there are others also.Maybe something with aloe in it.

You might want to try giving your cat a bit of fish oil or mix a bit of egg into his food. This is a natural remedy for dry skin in cats and dogs.
No talc.
for immeadiate relief you might want to lightly massage vitamin E oil or aloe oil onto the bad skin area.

I advise against it, on two reasons. Dry talc absorbs oil, and would make it worse. Cats lick their fur, to clean, and all of that talc would be eaten, and might gum up the intestines.
Here is the best cat medical site that I know on the problem:

toddler powder is innocuous. I placed it on my older cat each now and then reason she's getting previous and has a not person-friendly time baithing herself properly. And giving her a bathtub too in numerous cases is undesirable for her. merely make constructive it is the corn starch one.

no do not cover them in talc...they lick their fur!
Try to add some essential fatty acids to their food.
Pet stores carries omega 3 or 6 oils. This will help with a number of things including coat.

You need to check with a vet or with a good pet store. I would not put baby powder on a cat, period. How do you think that could help, anyhow? It would get in the kitty's lungs and make him/her cough.

I wouldn't try the baby powder on your cat because baby powder isn't meant to be ingested. Brush your cat[s] regularly.
