My daughter is turning 7 next month. She has no friends, since we just moved from far away, and has only adult family members and one 3 year old cousin to come to the party. What are some fun things that we can do to lighten the mood and make it a little more exciting for her?

That's a hard one. Poor girl. We moved too and now face moving again. It's hard on the kids.

Well, you could invite the adult family members and ask them to invite children they know around the same age. You can also invite neighborhood kids and do a pinata or something like that. (Cake, music, pinata, water fun if it's hot). If someone is working, you can ask co-workers to bring their kids around the same age. If you make it a short party, it should be just fine!

Oh yeah, if her birthday is during school, you can explain your situation to the teacher and have a "party" in her class / have the kids make ice-cream sundaes with all the trimmings, that's always fun. Then during the first month of school when she doesn't know many people, the attention will be on her and she can surely make some new friends!

Happy Birthday to your daughter!

Have the party at a big park...It's cheap, you'll have plenty of room, and there's lots to keep the kids entertained. She might even meet some new friends while she's there. You can always bring other things like a pinata and have other kids at the park participate...She'll be the most popular girl there! =)
