It was $1,000.00 for this semester and I mesed up. Although I thought it would be nice--I did not send it, now it is kind of late isn't it? I received it in May and for some reason only $500.00 was applies to my account -I would have to pay the balance that is when I realized I should have send the Thank you note.

You dont have to but i was also awarded a 1,000 dollar scholarship a few years ago and i sent a thank you note, and then they sent me a note back saying to contact them if I wanted a job in engineering when i get out of college.
So my advice is that it is never too late to send the note and that yes you should do it. This goes double if it was from a company of someone of whom works in the job field you are interested in. It could even land you the job you want if you make yourself know to them.
Bottom line is YES send the note i am sure they will appreciate it. Best of luck to you.

Sending a thank you note will set you apart from the majority and help you next time if you look for more money from the same sponsor. Also, it is a good habit to get into. If no one thanked you for handing them a large chunk of money, would you be so quick to do it again?

No, you don't have to send a thank you note. However, if you still want to do something nice, you could write to the public relations office of the institution that gave you sponsorship, and submit a little testimonial as to how their sponsorship helped you. They would appreciate that, and it's usually useful for them, since testimonials from people like you can be used in their public relations.

It is not required. It is probably not even expected, but it sounds like an excellent idea. The suggest two letters, one to the sponsor company and one to the selection committee. I suggest in the letters that you mention not only what a great honor it is to receive their scholarship, but your educational intentions, particularly if they were not mentioned in the application.

I think that you should send the thank you note. Who ever recommended you for this scholarship. The principal of the school and you should also send it to the company.

Yes, you address it to the sponsoring company, attention:selection committe(if that's who chose you) and you thank them for the opportunity they have given you in furthering your education. Make it sincere, but don't make it look like you knelt down and kissed their @sses,lol.
