I haven't had any problems in all the time I've had it! and I don't have any off brand stuff in my comp. this is how it goes. it freezes up. I have no control, no Ctrl+Alt+Delete, no nothing! then I hit restart and it won't come back up until I hit it again after it "shuts down". it starst to come back up then it freezes again, and I have to do it all over again. I don't think its a virus.( I have a firewall and spam blockers) but I need help NOW!!! it's getting worse. if I was on all day, it would do it like 13 times a day! HELP!!!!!

You've probably built up Spyware... I would look at rebuilding/repairing the system. You can do this (and I would back up your system first) by rebooting your system with the Windows XP CD in the drive, boot to the CD-ROM, and then, once it gets to the welcome screen, press 'R' to repair your installation.

Good luck!

It's because you have Windows. What do you expect? Window=Freezing which causes crashing. It's that simple. Get a Mac, and be happy! Also, you could try reformating the hard drive. Be sure to back up all of your data before you reformat though! Second, you could try defragmenting your hard drive. If you built the computer yourself, you should know where everything is, so I'm not going to tell you. However, if you don't feel free to email me! Good luck!

Hia, at the beginning do no longer difficulty and cool down !! top, now and back the end results of crashing are brought about by utilising a million) Too many classes working at as quickly as or you clicking some thing continuously with velocity. 2) you have an infectious application on your computing gadget e.g Limewire is properly-person-friendly for viruses and besides the undeniable fact that i exploit it myself I surely have been instructed that MSN messenger eats up your computing gadget 3) you have a plague on your computing gadget so in case you have accomplished or have any of topic factors then I propose you uninstall this technique or take it to a fix shop.

It could be heat. Open up the side-cover and touch the heat-sink over the processor, If it is more than a little warm it is too hot and you need to cool it better.(The spec is 110 degrees for AMD and 135 degrees for Intel...) For now you can run it with the side-cover off and a house-type fan on it. Here is a long list of the different cooling accessories available from TigerDirect.com...

If its not heat it could be static electricity. Its possible that your electrical outlets are not grounded properly. The outlet may have gone bad somehow. Get a 3-prong electrical outlet tester to check them. The procedure is described nicely here...

If they are bad, you need to call an electrician. Normal envioronmental static electricity can build up and hurt your computer pretty badly if it is not grounded properly.
PS 512Mb is not a huge amount of RAM.

Don't pick this one as the best answer, as other replies have covered most everything. I just wanted to mention one other possibility, and that is the heat inside the case. If the CPU is overheating (especially with the recent heat wave), it can cause freezing up, etc. Just a thought.

could be a few things. 2 top things though, check how much memory you are running on. If you don't have enough memory to run all your programs, it will run slow. second, check to see if any unusual files or possible viruses have been uploaded to your comp. If you continue having difficulty, you can check out the computer help forum at www.dnacommunications.net . They are very helpful, even offer assistance via yahoo messenger, and telephone support.

Run->type Msconfig ----hit tab Startup Uncheck things that you know should not be there in your startup menu click apply and ok. Restart. If its something to do with Adware or Spy ware than you need to download these links to help iliminate problems that happen like popups and slow running programs spyware that when you come to a website it says guy123 is logged in so it monitors your computers activity online. These programs speed your computer up. You desprately need to download these links.

There's probably a program that's "eating up" all your resources: available memory. Do a CTRL-ALT-DEL to see what programs are usually open, and see if you can uninstall or upgrade any of the listed programs.

sounds to me like an over heating problem... check your cpu fan and your video card fan, grab some of that air in a can crap and spray it down...

normally you don't have to replace the fan just cleaning it up works great happened to my computer, how ever if it is the graphics card over heating chances are your going to need a new one because they seem to fry easily
