If you use an iron daily it will do more damage than a chemical straightener. If you chemically straighten it then you shouldn't have to put chemicals on it again for 3-4 months. You may still have to touch up with an iron at times if you want it stick straight. I would recommend the chemical process, but don't do it yourself - and don't try combing a perm through it. That won't work on naturally curly hair, but it will remove a perm.

I would use an iron - chemicals can permanently damage hair, and although the heat of a straightening iron isn't the best thing for hair, it's better than chemicals. Good luck!

To be honest neither one is good for your hair. You have to be careful chemically straightening you hair because you don't want to over process your hair. If you are going to use a straightening iron, try not to use it all the time...the heat from it can damage your hair.

Use a straightening iron, but make sure you put something on your hair before you straighen it to protect you hair from the heat. Once you chemically straighten your hair you can't get your natural texture hair back until it grows back, and you have to keep doing because of new growth.

Straightening iron!!!

A friend of mine had huge chunks of her hair fall out after having it chemically straightened at a nice salon. It's just soo damaging to you hair.

I straighten my hair. I straightened my hair this morning and I won't have to worry about it until Thursday (2 days from now).

Flat ironing is better. Chemicals permanently change the structure of the hair, making it weak. Flat ironing is temporary, so you dotn suffer the consequesnces as much. You should always deep condition your hair though, because blwdrying and flat ironing unless its a ceramic iron can dry your hair out.
