It seems to me that a true Atheist would not waste time debating the existence of God or ridiculing theists. Aren't these atheists really more obnoxious than those they criticize? It makes me wonder if they are merely rebelling and need to rip on the the religious to inforce their belief that there is no God.

Captain Atheism: Thanks for the rational, unemotional explanation. Now I understand. I do not agree, but I see your point of view and respect it. Man has made a mess of religion. I do not equate the religions of mankind to my beliefs.

I am unapologetically trying to convert theists. Religion is causing the deaths of thousands of people every day, and is very likely to bring about World War 3 very soon.

Religion (Christianity in particular) is holding back American progress, particularly in the medical field, just as it has done for thousands of years in other cultures.

Religion (in the past) served a purpose, in keeping certain camps from battling amongst themselves. Unfortunately, the world is much smaller than it used to be, and those "camps" now have the ability to wage war on cultures on the other side of the planet, with weapons that are capable of destroying both sides of the conflict.

If you Christians, Jews, and Muslims wanted to go find your field of Armageddon, and battle it out once and for all with swords and shields, I wouldn't stop you.

But when you bring nukes into the equation, that's a different story.

Look at the hatred you see right here on these forums, between people of different faiths. Atheists, in particular, are immediately viewed as evil simply by calling themselves atheists. I can't begin to tell you how much hate mail I get every day for my name alone.

But I put up with it. I put up with it, for the sake of YOUR children. Yes, believers... I care about your children. And I don't want them to have to suffer for your ignorance in the future. For that reason, I'm trying to free you from the shackles of your religion, which is in fact, a mental illness. The cure for that illness is knowledge.

And even though most of you will fight me till the day you die, I'll keep trying, and so will others like me, until we cure the entire human race. Either that's going to happen, or one of your peers is going to destroy us all in one big god-inspired bout of insanity.

I know you hate me for saying all this. But that's okay. I don't need your love. I have plenty of people that love me. But like a parent of a misguided teenager, I will continue to endure your hatred in an attempt to do what's best for YOU!

Have a nice day. :)

So why are you debating the existence of God and ridiculing atheists?? Are you merely rebelling and needing to rip atheists to enforce your belief that there is a God?? If you are truly secure in your own faith, why would you care what a atheist believes?? And by the way, that's a first. I don't think I've EVER heard atheist & convert in the same sentence!!!

Some people claim they are "atheists" but I think actually that there are agnostics who feel frustrated because they don't find clues about their own faith thx to religions. So they act a bit as "anti-theists" actually.

Some real atheists don't pay attention to religious debates, but they feel annoyed by theists who try to insinuously convince them & their kids to change their mind. They want to protect their freedom of mind and don't want some religious beliefs to insinuously invade schools, for instance.

Because the stakes are high. It isn't just a mind game like believers like to claim, real people really suffer and die for these delusions, and most of the time it's someone randomly caught in the cross fire.

I think a real atheist should care what other people believe in. Most just cant accept the fact that there is someone watching over them.
They want to understand everything , u know?

The way you talk you seem just as obnoxious. None of the atheists I know act like that. And Atheists don't go against God how can they do that if they don't believe he exists or any other God(s)/Goddess'.

Oh, yes! That's why atheists make tax-free money by setting up "outreach ministries" and producing piles of tracts and creating TV stations whose goal is to get believers' attention, right?

Oh, wait. That's only in Bizarro World. Here on Earth, it's the Christians who do that.

They are like religious people who try to convert everyone to their religion because they believe theirs is the true religion. I wish people would allow other people to choose their own religion.....I think religion is a person thing.

I think this particular Athiest voiced what his beliefs are, freedom of speech,he can say what ever he wants, no one needs to listen , nor heed his decision and follow his example. We'd all be lost with no direction.

Maybe they don't want to be lonely in Hell and are trying to recruit people to hang with when they get there. I can't imagine why they would feel threatened by believers. I'm not at all threatened by their opinions.
