Yes.... Saint Ignatius of Loyola, also known as Ignacio (Íñigo) López de Loyola (December 24, 1491 – July 31, 1556), was the principal founder and first Superior General of the Society of Jesus, a religious order of the Catholic Church professing direct service to the Pope in terms of mission. Members of the order are called Jesuits. He is famous as the compiler of the Spiritual Exercises, and he is remembered as a gifted spiritual direct.... He was referring of course to the fact that if he could capture the mind of a boy(or girl) before the age of sseven, he could instill religious beliefs in him/her that would last forever

Is this where Loyola University gets its name? Your question raises more questions than answers for me. Was he a male chauvinist who felt that girls don't count or did he just have more mercy for females? By "mine" does he mean that child's mind will merely be a reflection of Ignatius and will never be free? He doesn't sound as much like a person of god as a pedophiliac vampire. Is he perhaps the patron saint of priests?

I'm pretty sure he did. I know it has been a rule of Catholic education.
People who have been taught to believe something very young tend to either keep it up or feel guilty about it the rest of their lives.
It's not just a Christian precept. The education of Muslim boys is based on the same principle.

I've heard and read that quote any number of times so I suspect it might be true.
He meant the boy would be a Roman Catholic forever.

cute. it's somewhat difficult to pin quotations on people long dead, due to the lack of journalistic integrity of reporters of times past. i wouldn't be surprised, though; give ME a boy, etc. it's not that odd an idea.

No, but he did say
“Let me look at the foulness and ugliness of my body. Let me see myself as an ulcerous sore running with every horrible and disgusting poison.”

I did a search through the following, without success.
...TO POLYCARP
...TO THE EPHESIANS
...to the Magnesians
...TO THE PHILADELPHIANS
...to the Romans
...TO THE SMYRNAEANS
...TO THE TRALLIANS
That doesn't mean it's not true, just that I couldn't find it.
