I just had to throw my small chicken strips in the microwave for 3 minutes to finish thawing to make bbq chicken....but afterwards i rinsed them and when i smelled them, they just smelled a little bit. Im assuming that its okay since it IS raw chicken.....right?

Even raw chicken shouldn't smell bad. I think the smell might have been from partially cooking it. If it was dated and hadn't been in your fridge for too long, it was probably okay.

If the chicken has been thawed and re-frozen it may have salmonella on it. You should always rinse poultry before cooking. Packing houses let it soak in what is called a fecal bath (poop soup). They are allowed to let it absorb 10-15%, which is counted as weight when you buy it.
