A state/location would be helpful.
Things that make a particular knife lawful/unlawful:
Blade length.
Double edged vs single edged.
Some jurisdictions specifically ban the butterfly knife itself.
Best bet is to go to your local library and look it up in the State Code (assuming you're in the US).

depends what state you are in. I know in Indiana it is OK if only one side of the blade is sharp. If it is double edged it is illegal. As for other states I do not know.
your really should put a state with these kinds of questions since knife laws are different in every state.
