Yes all anti-depressants do.They recently found this out. They do not list it as a side effect. They found out that taking antidepressants and some other meds cause something that regulates fat in the stomach to get turned off. Taking 2000 mg CLA before each meal along with 2000 mg of Omega 3 small fish oil in am and pm plus 800 mg of lecithin turns it back on. CLA is with the vitamins

All medications have there good side and there bad side to them,(side effects). Do you find it hard or difficult to motivate yourself into doing something constructive, like swimming and or walking, walking the treadmill. These are low impact excercise's that can make a difference in your attitude and weight, and in turn you may have a more positive outlook in life. Ive taken different medications from time to time and ive noticed in myself that they all have or had different effects to my body that have sometimes added to my state of mind being not so well. I am in no way saying that you should stop taking them, but rather you should talk to the doctor that prescribed you this medication and if he really cares for you, like he should , then maybe he can offer you an alternative or decrease the amount of zoloft you are taking. And finally dont rely totally on the medication to solve your problem, a type of activity or involvement of some sort is always a good thing, but the two highest remedies on my list for you would be excercise and spirituality.

Yea! I noticed I have been gaining weight as well, and I have always been at a normal weight for my height. I have been on it for about 6 months and have realized that it is giving me a "don't care attitude" about gaining weight. It actually has made me less motivated to go to the gym. An acquaintance of mine mentioned a couple of months ago, they gained 20 pounds while taking Zoloft.

I've heard of that side effect before. Actually I think 20 pounds over 7 months is pretty easy. That's 3 pounds a month. I can gain two pounds in a week! Of course, that was when I was on Weight Watchers and I would be eating all veggies and then pig out.

Yes, however, Zoloft's side effect with me was a constant sweat, 24/7. It never went away, no matter HOW COLD I kept the house. It could be 60 degrees and I would have a fine sheet of water on me. I got so tired of it, I asked to switch to a new medication, I went to Prozac and everything was great! Good luck and GET OFF IT, there are simply too many other anti-depressants to stay on one with side effects!!!

For some reason I ended up losing weight on Zoloft. Most people I know that are on Zoloft have experienced the weight gain and they ended up switching medication.

Hey,
I am on Zoloft right now and I did gain a lot of weight. If the problem is getting worse talk to your doctor and see if he/she can put you on something else. Well, I hope this works. Good luck sweetie.

Zoloft is one of the anti-depressants that can have a side effect of weight gain. There are other anti-depressants that your doctor may prescribe that either do not have a weight gain side effect or less of a weight gain side effect. I would suggest you monitor your eating habits for 1 week then discuss with your doctor.
