The second longest barrier reef in the world is in the Bay Islands off of Belize and Honduras and that is a great place for a dive. Of course the longest barrier reef is off of Australia ( the Great Barrier Reef) but if you live in North America it is a lot closer to get to Belize and Honduras. There are all sorts of charter services for dives down there or if you want to take an interesting cruise with some fellow divers try a Windjammer Barefoot Cruise. You can get deeply discounted rates in August to November ( because of hurricane season) and their boats go to some exotic little ports that the big cruise lines can't get into. Sounds like a great adventure in the wings.
