I heard that if an illegal immigrant goes to any Emergency Room, they cannot be denied. So i am taking it that if they do this and run up an expensive hospital bill which they cannot pay...then they aren't really obligated to pay...right? After all, they don't have a credit history to be concerned about. They won't have credit bureaus after them, since technically they are unaccounted for and aren't really here.

So with all that said...my question is:

Could an American citizen like me, just walk in a hospital, not give my real name and claim that i am an illegal immigrant to avoid paying a hefty hospital bill?

Also, in states that allow illegals to get driver's licenses...would it be possible for an American like me to get a '2nd' license under a name like Juan Lopez and just claim i am an undocumented Immigrant??

What are there penalties if caught? if so, are penalties harsh? is the government strict on this ? Worth Repeating right?

I think we ALL should be able to do that. If it's OK for Illegals to get off without paying for the medical bills why not ALL of us? O wait I know somebody has to get stuck with the BILL and we sure wouldn't wanna stick it on those ILLEGALS who are just BREAKING the law to support there POOR families right. And hell If Illegals can get drivers license why not say someone who has 27 DUI's simply change there name to Juan Lopez Leave America and sneak back in and get a drivers license. See the Pro Illegals will tell yah it's ONLY OK for the ILLEGALS to break the laws. Well I think it's about time we ALL got to break the laws RIGHT. I mean if Illegals can simply do as they please why can't we. O CRAP I'm sorry I keep forgetting were here LEGALLY and we OBEY the Laws and PAY for our medical expenses and pay taxes. Gee if we didn't have to do all that we could be ILLEGALS to.

As to your first question: yes. I know a guy (a citizen, now) who, when injured without insurance, went to the ER, lied about his name and address, got his treatment and left. Citizens are just as capable of being dishonest as illegal immigrants. For that matter, NO ONE can be turned away in an ER, not just illegal immigrants.

As to the drivers licenses or the penalties if caught, I have no idea.

WRONG, they do report it, and they do turn it over to lawyers to get payment. I know of a family that had a little girl who was paralyzed at birth due to the doctors negligence at her delivery. He just pulled her out and caused major paralysis; the family could not afford the operations she had to undergo to try and give her a normal life. She could not suck a bottle, smile, or move her eye on the right side of her body. The doctor said it was because the baby was so big that's why this occurred. He later resigned because of all the complaints he had received after the news broke out that this was not the first family this had happened to.
And Americans can do it and the hospitals writes it off and the end of the year, I know this because my sister in law is a doctor, and they have more whites skipping out on hospital bills than any other race. I hope this sheds some light on your question.

The first part of the question is exactly why many California hospitals had to close their ER's - they went bankrupt caring for undocumented workers. The rest is purely illegal. If you get caught with a ficticious ID it may be a felony depending on the context of it's use.

A hospital by law cannot turn away anyone that needs emergency medical care. An illegal immigrant cannot get insurance, or a normal physician. Those that I know that have gone to the ER, have paid their bill over monthly payments because they are not looking for any problems, they know that the police can go to the address they listed and try and find them.

nah, they'd know you are really an American. We all "talk funny". Besides, anywhere where we speak english you have to have some kind of identification, or should at least. If you can speak really good spanish, you may be able to pull it off, but then you have to get back into the country. It's not really worth it.
