“This I believe: that the free, exploring mind of the individual human being is the most valuable thing in the world. And this I would fight for: the freedom of the mind to take any direction it wishes, undirected. And this I must fight against: any idea, religion, or government, which limits or destroys the individual. This is what I am and what I am about.” -- John Ernst Steinbeck, American Author

“Question with boldness even the existence of God, because, if there be one, He must more approve of the homage of reason than blind faith.” -- Thomas Jefferson, American President

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her and she will promote you; she will bring you honor when you embrace her.” – Proverbs 4:7-8

Steinbeck - Exploring free minds - great, I guess I have to laugh though because I've read "Of Mice and Men," and I'm having a hard time seeing this coming from that same author.

Jefferson: Great - I totally agree with Jefferson, that God wants us to question Him, because He wants us to learn to discern truth from fiction for ourselves, so when we choose to follow what's right, it is to our credit that we make that choice.

Proverbs - fantastic - Written by Soloman, who was blessed with wisdom and understanding, he would know that those two things are very important. Wisdom isn't just knowing stuff, it's being able to apply to well to real life situations what you know. And then understanding is what helps us communicate effectively with one another.

nice quotes - thanks for sharing.

Exploration of the mind is a good thing,if in the end of your searching, you conclude, with faith that God is.With wisdom, when you find her, keep her, with faith in God,together-you will enter into The Kingdom of God.

I can't figure why people equate faith with blind acceptance. In my ten, very indepth, years of bible study, I have come to believe that I can trust God's word as true.

This isn't "blind" faith, it's reasoned faith. I've never spent so much time looking into anything.

The wisdom I possess comes from God, His word and my experiences.
