it all depends on where the bullet has lodged itself some can be extracted by using small forceps or it has to be located in the body via x-ray or CT Scan and then removed surgically. There are even times where the bullet cannot be reached or removed because of risk to the patients health and it is left in the body.

X-Ray first to find out where the bullet is located. Then open the area. Sometime bullets are left in the body if they are not affecting a major organ.

find entry wound, spread if necessary, then locate bullet/bullet fragments and remove with tongs or tweezers
