Not if you use any kind of toilet bowl cleaner. Even if you flush it some of it might still be hanging about in the bowl. It is better for a dog to have its own bowl.

Yes it is safe for a dog to drink out of a toilet; unless someone has just used it without flushing afterwards!

I just HATE to see any animal drink from a toilet and always put the lid down so my cats are not tempted to do that.

Lots of dogs do it though and I think it probably doesn't do them harm (flushed toilets of course) and no automatic toilet bowl cleaners.

When it comes to my dogs and what they can eat and drink, I am of the opinion that they are living, breathing and trusting animals that need me to decide what is best for them. I would not drink out of a toilet and therefore, I keep the lids down. I know it's not sanitary for them and so I won't let them decide on their own to drink toilet water.

Toilet water is cleaner than fast food resteraunt ice. They only reason they drink from the toilet is because they like it up higher and they dont want to bend over. Basically they are lazy. If you put a bowl of water on a stand, I gaurantee they will drink from it.

There's bacteria in the toilet. Don't let your pup drink from there. Have a clean fresh bowl of water available to you dog as much as possible.

No! Even if you keep your toilet clean, there's a ton of bacteria in the toilet, and when it's freshly clean, your dog may be ingesting some of the cleaner. Keep a water bowl in your kitchen, utility room, mud room, wherever it can get to it whenever it wants.

My dogs refer to the toilet as the magic water bowl.

It is if you don't use those thingys that keep the toilet clean with every flush.

Hey rd, dogs' tongues are cleaner then ppls' tongues, thats why doctors say that a dog-bite is safer than a person's bite.

probably will not hurt them as long as the toilet has been flushed. You may not want your dog to lick you in the face. would be better to provide clean fresh water.
