Chicken Noodle Soup and Bread. A few pointers:
1. Use the boxed chicken stock, not canned and warm this up by itself.
2. In the other pot, brown the chicken in butter and thyme first. Then remove.
3. Saute vegetables (garlic, celery, onion, carrots) then re-add chicken.
4. Drop in the pasta when the soup hits a boil then reduce to simmer for 10 minutes.
5. While waiting, grill or broil some 1" thick slices of french bread (don't use pre-sliced bread here). When they are colored on one side, take them out and rub them with a piece of garlic cut in half (REAL garlic bread).
6. Ladle a bowl and eat.

Hot Potato soup!
Fry 2 strips of bacon, crumble them up,
peel two potatoes and dice them.
Put them with a cup and a half of
water in the pan.
Dice a small onion and put it in there too.
Smells good, eh?
Now when the potatoes are done,
add about a tablespoon of butter
and some salt and pepper.
Now add some half and half,
or cream, or milk to cover the
potatoes. Heat till very hot but
not boiling.
Pour it in a bowl and viola! You are warm!!
It is good with saltines.

Easy and hearty chili soup...(the recipe makes a big pot but you can always cut everything in half)

INGREDIENTS:

* 3 pounds ground beef
* 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
* 2 potatoes, cubed
* 4 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans
* 4 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed tomato soup
* 8 cups tomato juice
* 3 teaspoons chili powder
* 8 cups water
* salt to taste

DIRECTIONS:

1. In a large pot over medium heat, combine the ground beef and onions. Saute for 5 minutes, or until meat is browned. Drain excess fat and add the potatoes, beans, tomato soup, tomato juice, chili powder, water and salt to taste. Bring just to a boil and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 1 hour and serve.

Big bowl of beef and potato stew
with a Crusty bun. May be some
Hot Chocolate on the side. I would
usually have a beer but since your cold
stick with the Hot Chocolate.
