launch a hateful tirade against you, telling you how foolish you are because you refuse to believe what they believe or quote scripture to tell you how evil you are or best of all smugly tell you you will burn in hell for all eternity

but

At the end of the hateful tirade, they add...... "god bless you" or " I will pray for you" or even "Hugs".

Does adding something like this excuse the hate that preceded it ?

If you are going to be nasty and hateful, fine, but don't try to dress it up.

Note : I said CERTAIN christians, a definite minority.

I agree with you. It is people who behave that way who give all Christians a bad rap. I even went so far as to buy a bumper sticker which reads "I am for the separation of Church and hate."

I completely agree, some people are just lost, they become very hypocritical and give Christians a bad name, even cause some to completely turn away from the Lord altogether b/c of how they were treated,It happens way to often. You and I probably don't agree on alot of things concerning faith, but that is no reason for one to disrespect the other. Neither is going to change the way the other thinks, so why can't we all just show each other love and respect and let everyone make their own decision. However, it does go both ways, just like everything else in the Christian & Atheist genre. Alot of atheists will speak alot of hateful things (so do christians, though) just because someone dosen't agree with them. Today lets agree that we do disagree but we can be peacefull about it. PLEASE!!!! I am not better than any person, nor is anyone better than I am. Lets just respect each other, all we can do is account for ourselves and let the world draw it's own conclutions. GOD BLESS!!! ( I do mean that)

This is highly hypocritical. Not only because most the time they miss quote the scripture but, the Christian religion is suppose to be of love and guidance. Not of hate and definitely not of pointing out flaws and saying how one must is evil for this and will be damned to hell. Of course they add "but we'll pray for you". What good is a prayer if their intentions are to hurt and make themselves feel more in tuned with God because they're to busy pointing out other flaws than working on their own? Well... just as good as committing the sin themselves.

Much more often, I've seen Christians making perfectly polite, well-meant comments get absolutely trashed by the people they're talking to. So here you're calling certain Christians "highly hypocritical, nauseating, hateful, smug, hateful (again), hateful (again), nasty, and hateful (again)". You sound more full of spite than any Christian I've ever met, even online. Know what that makes you, my friend? "Highly hypocritical and nauseating."
God bless you--you need it!

IT'S INFURIATING! I HAVE MY OWN BELIEFS BUT DON'T TRY TO CONVERT EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE WORLD.

IT'S JUST THEIR CONDESCENDING WAY OF MAKING YOU FEEL LIKE CRAP SO THEY CAN FEEL BETTER ABOUT THEMSELVES. AND I ALSO KNOW IF THEY ACTUALLY HAD TO WORK VERY HARD AT TRYING TO GET YOU TO CONVERT THEY WOULD DROP YOU LIKE A HOT POTATO! ONCE YOU GET SUCKED INTO A LOT OF CHURCHES ALL THEY WANT IS TO GET YOU TO DO THINGS FOR THEM OR GET YOUR MONEY AWAY FROM YOU. AND WHEN YOU DON'T OR CAN'T DO ENOUGH THEY DECIDE YOU AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH AND DROP YOU. I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME AS A MEMBER OF A RELIGION I GREW UP IN.

ANY CHURCH DEFINITELY NEEDS IT'S MEMBERS TO HELP OUT BUT IT'S BEEN MY EXPERIENCE THAT MANY RELIGIONS NEVER GO FAR ENOUGH TO DO WHAT THEY'RE DESIGNED TO DO FOR ANYONE AND THAT'S TEACHING THE WORD OF GOD... IN A DECENT MANNER.

LOL agreed. on that note i must add, its also incredibly irritating when u make a point and instead of leaving it be, or making an intellectual point back at you they come back at you with the "my dad can beat up your dad." i think the minority your talking about here need to take to heart the phrase

"what DID jesus do"

It's a little hard to judge a person's true attitude toward you while chatting online. How do you know that they do not truly care about your eternal salvation and in doing so they warn you kindly that you might burn in hell. =)

GOD BLESS YOU SWEETIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
KISSES AND HUGS AND ALL THE LOVE OF THE LORD!!!!

I never say "God bless you" unless the question is sincere.

This is a habit of some who say, "I love you" after pushing your buttons.
