Two versions of ME, or ME and something else?

Either way, if you have only one on your computer now, then you can install the new one in a new location (perhaps on a different volume), then restart using the new OS, and delete the old OS from there.

If both are currently installed, then you may have a problem removing one, as they may share files, and deleting one may delete files need by the other. One option for you is to restore your computer to a time before both were installed, then follow the suggestion I made above.

When you start up your computer, does it say that 'Windows 2000 Professional' twice on a black screen? If so, then there may not be two versions of 2000, but it may just be one.

Easy way to find out is to insert your 2000 CD and reboot the computer. During the setup (blue screen), you should check out how many partitions you have. If you have one than one partition, more likely that means you have more than one version of 2000 on your computer. You have to find out which one is the one you need to get rid of, and then delete that partition.

Hope this helps.

If they're both on the same partition, use something like partitionmagic or cfdisk to find and delete the selected 'bad windows 2000' partition. you could attempt to resize the existing 'good windows 2000' to encompass the entire drive, but that'd probably royally bone-up all of your existing information/data.

If you have two then they are on different partitions if it is the one on the second partition [D:] commonly then reformat that partition if it is on C: then delete WINNT, Program Files and Documents and Settings. Then go to run type C:\Boot.ini and delete the record of the malfunction Windows 2000.

remove all your programs onto a disc (totally remove) then start all over with putting back to the computor the one version of programs you want. You will have to do a hard drive clean up

Need some more information from you. Are they on two different partitions? Hard drives?

I would recommend saving what you need and just reinstalling the new one.
