I'm not sure If I understand your question, but if you mean, He didn't want people to make thier own religon than I completely agree. None of the man-made religions can be right. (Catholocism is God-made) BUT He did say to pray.

Pardon me, yet when a tree falls in the woods, it creates vibrations in the air. those vibrations, even as they bounce off an ear drum, are interpreted by technique of the human mind as "sound". yet sound itself does no longer exist. A tape recorder can magnetically seize those vibrations and resend them by skill of a speaker, yet once back, there is not any sound till the human mind translates those vibrations into sound. It has no longer something to do with ingesting. it is undemanding technological information. And to respond to the question at hand, God is an invention of people. Given adequate time, if people did not exist, yet another existence style might want to likely evolve to the point of wakeful information and they too might want to augment a primitive theory of God to describe each thing they do no longer understand.

God did teach us to pray as in the Lord's Prayer but he did not ask us to create new religion. However, his angel Gabriel spoke to Mohamud about the words of God and then he created the religion called Islam.

Not sure what you mean by 'creating a religion'. If you beleive that there is a such thing as the supernatural, then you are religous.
God did ask us to pray - Jesus taught us the Lord's prayer.
