navy, when their ships deploy the pull into several different overseas ports, and regularly visit ports on the U.S. coasts and nearby countries. The air force deploys to a foreign base and you are there in that base for 12-18 months, then you come back.

Depends on where you're stationed and what your job is in either branch. Talk to a recruiter about available positions - they would know best. Just make sure you get any "promises" in writing before you enlist anywhere!
