Ok I went to mexico for a week and during that week my eyes got really really bloodshot from probably the sand, sun, salt water, and chlorine from the pool. Well I used eyedrops like all the time during that vacation hoping they would help, but they didnt. My eyes didnt hurt or anything, they were just really red. I left on July 26 and came back August 2. My eyes cleared up a little, they are no longer super bloodshot, but i can still see the red veins on the sides of my eye balls and they're not really going away and its stayed like that for the past week or so.

im starting to kinda freak out that my eyes are damaged and that i have a disease or something (im kinda paranoid). im going to make an appointment with my eye doctor, but i just want to know if this is serious or not. (i've stopped using eyedrops since i came back and i dont wear contacts)

nah let your eyes go, relax and rest them. takes times especially with all that activity you've put them through.

By all means, consult an eye doctor...but no need to freak out until he gives you bad news. It could be something as simple as allergies...

When visiting another country, your system comes into contact not only with sand, sun, chlorine, etc., but also bacteria and other "normal" organisms for that region that YOU are not used to...

This can cause all sorts of problems like "Montezuma's Revenge" (severe diarrhea) from eating local food and drinking local water, as well as a host of other ailments.

I would not use any more eyedrops (especially from the same bottle you had down in Mexico) as that too might have become contaminated, but paranoia will not make the redness go down.

Vamoose to the eye doctor and get checked out, woman! Good luck...

So your eyes are clearing up. They're getting better and better. From red to pink to white. If there is no pain, you don't have a problem. Just keep monitoring their progress--wear sunglasses out in the sun, wash your eyes with plain, clear water, leave the eyedrops alone as overuse causes redness. Remember: Stop the eyedrops and your eyes will clear up on their own. There is no need to go in to see a doctor for this. Save your money.

As long as you can see and there is no pain, just stop the eyedrops and wait until they clear--in a few days. Also, plain sterile saline solution may be o.k. to use, but not the "get the red out" variety of eyedrops.

Redness of the eye is very common symptom/sign and by itself, is not necessarily diagnostic. Some common causes of redness are dry eye and allergies. Another relatively common cause of red eye is episcleritis, which is an inflammation of the covering of your eye (and is idiopathic). A true diagnosis can only be reached after seeing your eye doctor (and I strongly recommend you do).

You had an episode of allergy because of change of place, & has now subcided. Have some good tear drops, it will help you. not to be worried at all.
