No, you can wipe them off with a damp rag, but it isn't a good idea to give them a bath when they are this young. When they are about 12 weeks old you can start to give them a bath, use a cat shampoo and only do it once a month or you can make their skin dry out and get itchy.

bathing your cat is fine and is actually an easy process. Since the kitten is so young don't use fleas soaps or such until it is at least 6 months old. To wash your cat here is the easiest 5 step method I have found and my cat has come to enjoy his baths...

Step one. Squirt the soap into your toliet, making sure you clean it out first.

Step two. Put your cat in the toilet, this can take some coaxing and the first few times this will be the hardest part

Step three. Close the lid and be careful of claws and paws coming from underneath the seat.

Step four. Flush repeatedly. I try and get 5-6 good flushes. This provides the power wash and rinse cycles

step five. Open the lid and get the heck out of the way. Kitty will run off and dry him/herself with out too much problem.

I have found this is less messy that a traditional sink bath and easier on the arms from scratches. I hope this helps you.

I wouldn't use the soap, just the warm water. I started bathing my cat when he was 6 weeks old, but didn't use any soap until he was 6 mos old. What you do want to be sure to do is get them as dry as you can, and even then, they are still going to be damp, so make sure they are in a warm place where there is no draft. I put mine in the bathroom for a few hours, just to make sure he's really, really dry.

Is There a REASON you feel the kitten needs a bath?

At 4 Weeks, you should not be introducing it to any chemical products like shampoos. (You will have to let the kitten's immune system establish itself.)

If it happen to get grimy with grease or the like, I would take a damp cloth and clean as much as I can.

If it suffers from fleas, DO NOT USE FLEA MEDICATION!!! (They are TOO young and it would be toxic!) In that case, use tepid water (Cooler than "luke warm" but warmer than cool) and carefully "drown" and work out as many fleas as possible.

If the kitten is Totally covered with grime or fleas, take it to a veterinarian that has a groomer on premises. They will do their best to make the little kitty comfortable.

It is always better to be SAFE than SORRY regarding NEW Kittens. When they get older, you can use products recommended for their age and weight.

Keep your kitten happy (and make sure you provide them plenty of toys and playtime!) Be GOOD to your feline, and you will have a great companion for years to come!!!

Hope This Helps!

Yes, but make sure the water is not hot, and use either soap especially made for cats or Johnson's No More Tears Baby Shampoo. Also dry them off with a towel after their bath.

4 weeks is really young. you might want to just dab a wet cloth on them and then dry them off. cats are very susceptible to chills, and in general, you shouldn't really give them a bath unless they are really really dirty or really really smelly. are you bathing them because they are dirty? again, i think it would be better to go at it with a warm wet cloth. if you just have a hunkering to bathe them, wait a few more weeks. and good luck with it - some kitties can be extra awful about bathing!

I use Kitty Wipes that I got from PetSmart and even though my cat squirms somewhat while I give him a quick wipe down, I think it's gotta be better than what he would do with a bath. Plus he smells really good when it's done.

You will not endanger your life by bathing a kitten. The weather is warm now and you are not in great danger of harming the kitten by its getting chilled.

Unless you think you want to bathe your cats regularly in the future I wouldn't do it. Cats are naturally clean and take care of their own grooming needs. A healthy cat will not smell.

I have a number of "teen age" cats. They have never had a bath.

Use soap made for cats, make sure it says that you can use it on a kitten that young. Also, if you do give your kitty a bath, make sure it gets dried off well, your kitty is young and will get cold easily.

it is ok and it is funny too. I got kitty soap. They had it at walmart. It is just for cats. When they get out of the bath and run around all wet it is really funny and cute.
