It usually takes 3 days to change a behavior or routine...so I would try offering him the foods you want him to eat for 3 days and whatever he eats is fine. He will get less picky when he realizes his choices aren't going to change. If you aren't going to wean him from nursing, then it may be difficult to make the transition to all table food and cow's milk, if that is his first choice of what to eat. Good luck and if it doesn't work now, just try again in a month or so.

Continue breastfeeding becuase it will at least keep him healthy while giving him a variety of different foods to try. But definitely talk to his dr. and see what Dr. says about their professional concerns regarding his weight gain. Pediasures and things like that just end up making children into fussy eaters so continue to give him a variety of healthy fruits, veggies, pastas and meats so he wont get bored of the same thing every day. If you are concerned about his calcium intake, supplement it with cheese and fortified juices cereals and other foods, becuase flavoring his milk will make him expect that and lead to more "fussy eating." Good luck!

Don't worry about the milk...cows milk is for calves and not healthy for humans. Buy 100% juices with calcium added. The carbs should help in weight gain.

I think you need to have a serious talk with your pediatrician, something needs to change, you are saying all he takes in is two breastfeeding sessions a day? It almost sounds like he needs a feeding tube put in... he is very tiny.
if your pediatrician isn't addressing this, it's time for a 2nd opinion.

First thing you do, stop breastfeeding. The kid is 16 months, not 16 weeks. If you do that, he'll most likely start eating other things. If he doesn't, then so what. He'll eventually get hungry and eventually he'll give in and eat what you put in front of him. He's taking advantage of you (yes, they can do that at 16 months). Don't give in, just be firm with him and eventually he'll give in and eat.
