The military gives you a pair whether you have your own or not. Most Drills make you where the ugly issue ones in basic, after that you can wear your own (but wear the ugly ones in the field, it's easy to break glasses in the field). There is also the option of laser surgery after you complete initial entry training.

I wore glasses in the Marine Corps. I was issued the BC
(birth control, buddy-holly type frames) in boot camp, and once I got to my first training unit, I was issued a pair of metal framed 'aviator'- style glasses. Naval medicine (I can't speak for the army), offers three or four different frames, all very basic, in gold or silver. I was allowed one pair of prescription sunglasses and one pair of regular glasses every year. Once I reached my first duty station, I went back to wearing contacts, and later purchased a pair of glasses from a civilian optometrist, although I did keep my issue glasses for work, because they were ballistic/safety glasses.

The military will fill the prescription for the lenses but only offers very plain frames. ("Birth control glasses", they used to call them - because they were so ugly, nobody would ever have sex with you again.) If you want fancy frames, you have to pay for that yourself.
Best wishes and God bless.

Get some Rec-Specs, they are frames with a strap so they stay on very well, generally used for sports, but they are great for any intense job as well.
