My bf went out of town for three weeks and left his cats alone in the house. After he'd been gone for 4 days, I asked him,"Who's going to take care of the cats while your gone?" He said,"I was hoping you would." Usually one of his friends takes care of them while he's gone, but he told me he didn't want her in his house cause she's kind of nutty. I live 45 minutes from him and can only make it over there 1x per week. After the first week, I fed them and changed their litter boxes. The second week, I came in, and there was poop everywhere in the house, and some barf. I changed the litter boxes again , and fed the cats, but there was no way I was going to pick up all those turds. I am so disgusted that my boyfriend isnt more responsible with his pets. Is this a sign that he's totally crazy and disgusting. I have a feeling it's not the first time this has happened. I almost want to break up with him after 1 and a half years.

Well, he has little regard for his pets, and that is a sure sign he has little regard for a lot of things. Pets rely on us for their life. If he is so haphazzard with their lives, what will he be towards you. I think that if I were to witness a pet being abused, I would be gone, gone, gone. This is really unacceptable behavior...like a 10 year old, and in fact, 10 year olds take better care of their pets!

Look Girl, If this is the only nasty habit you've noticed it may not be that big a deal. Keep in mind that people don't change for other people without consequences. If you wind up living together you may want and expect him to be cleaner, but that doesn't mean he will be., or that he'll stay that way if he does change in the beginning. What the !@$$ , by the way? How considerate is it of your bf to drop that "bomb" on you anyway?

I am ROTL right now............

The thing is, when you have more than 1 or 2 cats, they need to be cared for on a daily basis, while their owner is away. I went on vacation for a week, and had a sitter stay at my house with my 4 indoor cats, its just something that has to be done...... Tell him he needs to be a more responsible pet owner...

LOL

it's not sanitary. Why would he not board them while he is gone? why did he not ask you to take care of them ahead of time? I wouldn't clean it up either. but, it's not the cats fault it sounds like one of them got sick. Cats also react funny to change. That might be why they pooped everywhere. Did you tell him what happened at his house? Wha tdid he say if so?

ok dude don't break up with him over just that. I think you need to tell him that you can't make it over and that they pooped all over the house. I think you should pick up what is there. Then tell him that you are to busy to go over enough to make sure they don't make a mess and that he needs to get his friend to take care of it,but if he doesn't like his friend at the house you should tell him that you can still go over once a week to check on the house. hope I helped. : )

Well its one thing if he's home and there is cat turd everywhere but he's away. Most guys usually aren't that clean to begin with. It wouldn't be a reason for me to break up with someone.

he isnt very responsible...what if his pets were sick and died? if he cant make better arrangement for his pets, he isnt worthy of having them.
