Why are public schools crappy?

From kindergartin to 4 grade i was in a public school. I dont know if it was cause it was in Arkansas, but i hated all my classes, my teachers were mean, the food sucked, and the school board sucked too!

Then we moved and i went to an on base school..... it was easier making friends, the teachers were nicer, the food didnt suck, the school was actually clean, and i actually learned stuff!

Now my dad retired from the air force, and i have to go to public school again! the school sucks..... i dont even get to pick my classes!

In minot, my brother and everyone else that lived on base were called "basers" there wernt enough people according to my mom, to have a high school on base!

the only good thing about not going to school on base is that i can shop at the BX on base for clothes, and the other kids wont!

It's not the schools themselves or the teachers...it happens to be the students...if you look at your general school population nowadays, there are fewer and fewer kids who really try and really care, then what happens is the teachers get pulled down by the population of students who don't care, about themselves, their future, their community, or even caring to put forth an effort.
So what happens? The parents blame the schools, the teachers, society....however, it is the parent's fault. Parents don't invest in their children anymore, they get caught up in their careers, their lives, so the kids raise themselves, and the parents are too tired to fight it. But they blame everyone else because of course... "it's not my (the parent's) fault...and ... my kid is being singled out...or...it must be the schools..."
So it sucks for the few kids who really care. So the lucky kids are the one's who can block all that out and still succeed, or the one's who get transferred into private schools.
You have to look at the teachers, kids are not what they were years ago, and kids differ from place to place. I remember when an after-school fight was a fistfight (I'm from the midwest originally) now; kids bring guns.
Teachers are being forced into survival mode....just trying to keep peace and stay safe

The main thing to remember is school is what you make of it. Great students can come from the worst of schools and bad students can come from the best of schools.

Hang in there you won't even remember this when college comes around, neither will the other kids.

Well,the thing is that public schools are cheaper,so everyone goes there from every classes,you can find different people over there.And the teachers,they don't get paid too well so they bring teachers who aren't that good.And about the food well what do u expect it is a public school and the fee is cheap so....but i see that this is your only choice and it is better to go and get education rather then stay uneducated.Good Luck to you!

I guess it depends on where you live. I live in Michigan and while there are even better private schools, there are many public schools that are just fine. I went to a public elementary, a private middle, and now im at a public high. It's not so bad, but I do understand why you say private is better.
