Freedom is nice, and freedom of religion used to be a big deal to the founding fathers. But we have much better answers now. Not that I want to impose beliefs on anyone, but we require that public school be imposed on children (or at least state certified private school). So there is precedence for imposing education on people. Why do we allow people to go on believing in their various mythologies UNCHALLENGED, when it really matters, but force geography on young minds? I suggest a "Mythologies of the World" class, because it matters, where children can learn about all the religions people have invented. Then send them to science class for our CURRENT best guess as to what the hell is going on.

Because it matters, if you didn't get that.

God does not "blame" people for non theory. God deliver us Jesus and Jesus it appears that evidently expects this reaction. it is obvious interior the hot testomony. Having study a good number of the bible (no longer conceal to cover i admit) i don't experience like it appears like mythology in any respect yet money owed written by utilising many people of a different time. A documentation in case you will. humorous although, as quickly as a man or woman shows the Holy Spirit themselves on their very own...they see God in each and every thing. study greater on condemnation and Christianity, i think you're misinformed and a biblical training would assist you.

Because neither Science nor Religion can be proven so why only allow people to concentrate on one thing if that thing could be false. Allowing student to study both gets them the option to decide what they think is real and which is fake.

Mythology is complicated. To understand and make use of any groups mythology, you need understand their culture.
From an educational perspective, that would require in-depth knowledge of their religion, history, values and personal interaction with people from that group. Who would be qualified to teach such a class?
If anything is to be taught, it has to be endoctrinated. That is the nature of formal education. The most anyone could do is pass on observations, documented by others, and present theories based on those observations. Exactly like science.

Let it be what it is. Think of education as something added to your life. Like fries that come with your hamburger; and are included in the price. Take the fries and don't worry that they don't have garlic because you can go home and make them your own way. Eat the hamburger.

Personally, I wouldn't want anyone certified by the state to teach my child mythology. I'll take care of that on my own. Just like I won't eat the garlic fries from Taxi's because they have given me fries with spoiled garlic. Just say "No, thank you."

btw, if you attend a school of higher learning (college, university) there are many classes like those you proposed. Also, the mythology of every culture permeates it's art and science and religion and daily life...you only have to open your eyes. It has not been withheld.

Why do we allow people to ACTUALLY BELIEVE catholicism? You said it yourself- freedom. Deity bless us for that. You can home school or get a private tutor if you do not like the teachings of the public school system.

Religion is but feeble ways of explaining and comforting the average human mind now serious intelectuals such as myself deduct that if there is infact a god to the very real astral plane or afterlife existence that the chances of choosing the right religion is about 1 in 10,000 including extinct religions so I dont think it really cares if you seriously worry about punishment for your lifestyle just life a decent worthy life.

This is a good idea.but i think the number of beleifs is huge ,,numerous to the degree that sometimes i feel that every individual has his own beleifs ,very much variant and differrant to the degree that i feel everyone has his own religion.so this is not practical making a school that will teach an infinite number of beliefs,so the scholar will die after a very long life before finishing his studies.I would rather recommend to either build your own beleif and respect others beleifs................................................Whatever they are..................Dr sherif lanson khalil of Egypt

The only problem with allowing ALL world religions to be taught is that the teacher would give a biased slant to the ones he or she didn't believe in.
Could you imagine an atheist being forced to teach Christianity? Or a Christian being forced to teach Wicca?
Yes, religion does matter. But it doesn't belong in school. Ever. Students should still be able to pray, wear crosses, and carry their Bibles without worrying about getting in trouble. But to have teachers preach to the class? Absolutely not. UNLESS it's an ancient mythology class, where "dead" religions are analyzed.
