I have both and love them the same, but they are quite different.

well i'm not a small dog person myself but i had a great expiriance with minutare dachshund.
my next door neighbor had a m.dachshund and it was kind to everyone and never made a big fuss. he was also helpful! ha ha i remember when we were sitting in the front (us and the neighbors) just charring when the m.dachshund came up and had a mouse in his mouth we had no idea where it came from but ever since he came there where no more mices around our neighbors house ha ha.
our other next door neighbor had a chihuahua. it was loud and wouldn't let anyone near him or their house. he yapped at everything and if a ball went to their yard we could kiss it good-bye. they once got a report from the mailman saying that a small dog bit a mail man and they would not deliver to them anymore so they got their own mail box at the post office and the dog had to be on-leash at all time.
so my prefrence would be minature dachshund

I have two mini's and my mom, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law each have a chihuahua. I love them all, but something about the dachshunds are cuter to me. I guess it is their unique body style. Also, most chihuahuas that I have seen tend to bark a bit more.

Dachshund. Although I am not a little dog person I like dachsunds. My over all pick for a breed is Pit Bull. It is funny though my sister recently moved in with my dad who has a dachsund and my sister has a Staffordshire Terrier. Quite the couple.
Dachsunds are spunky and hold their own. That is why I like them.

i think the miniature dachshund is more likely to have a nature that is easier to live with. dachshund's are comparatively very intelligent and have the ability to learn a lot of commands.

I am not into little dogs. I have a rott and heeler BUT if I had to pick one I would say the Dachs. From the ones I have been in contact with they seem good to their owners -although they do have alot of medical conditions. My boyfriend in hs had a chihuahua, and I just didnt like it. They were annoying, and I dont think they are cute. Sorry to each their own! But to me they seem like over grown rats.

I think i would prefer a mimature dachshund because they're sweeter. But then again i don't know your chihuahua, it may be really sweet. But im happy with my silky terrier =)

miniature dachshund!! i love them!! ....chihuahuas bark too much and the sound is annoying
