Am from Lubbock and driving to Abeliene tomorrow to look for dresses, both bridesmaid and bridal gowns; any specific shops I should look at? Thanks!

I don't know, but I used to live in Abilene when I was a kid!! I'm sure there are many places there to shop for bridesmaids dresses. Just do a search online for "bridal shop" or "bridesmaid dresses" in Abilene, Tx and it will give you what all they have.

Good luck! Be safe driving!

Why do people ALWAYS say "David's Bridal"?

It's the Wal-Mart of bridal stores, *retch*. (And not that I don't like Wal-Mart, but I won't buy formal there.)

All I can say is go to a local (check your yellow pages) formalwear/bridal store. They will give you hands on service (that you will have to schedule an appointment for), and will (usually) give the bridesmaids a discount on their dresses if you buy your dress there.

That's what my friend did. She, and I as MOH, checked out David's Bridal and found the staff to be dismissive, and uncourteous, and the selection to be cheap looking, and unvaried. Then we found a bridal store about 2 miles from her home and went there. The people took us to the bridal salon to have a one-on-one visit, where it was just us in to see the bridal dresses they offer (avoiding the Wal-Mart feel of DB). She found a gorgeous dress at $400. Then we also found bridesmaids dresses there for $120 (but they knocked 20% off since the bride got her dress there).

And if you have bridesmaids far away don't worry. We have one in Atlanta, GA (and we all are in St. Louis, MO). Bridal stores will work with other stores that sell the same dress lines to get the other bridesmaids fitted and ordered.

Sorry for the rant, but let me reinterrate, David's Bridal sucks. It's Bridal Hell.

Good Luck.

I would NOT recommend David's Bridal (but unfortunately, I don't have anyone I CAN recommend! Sorry!)

I am having a heck of a time with them right now! If you do buy your dress there, at least don't have it altered there. The women at David's here in Norridge, IL absolutely ruined my lovely dress. I have to take it to another seamstress to fix it, if she can. They dyed my shoes the wrong color (dyed them red instead of bridal ivory--- how does that happen?!), so I have to buy new ones. On top of that, once the dress was bought, I may as well have turned invisible. No one wants to help me any more!

Congratulations and best of luck to you!

Check out David's Bridal (Abilene) - the ones around here (DFW) have a huge selection of both gowns and dresses.
