Ok; complicatd question but: Should I ask my best (girl) friend's best (girl) friend if MY (afforementioned, lol) best (girl) friend likes me? And is she likely to tell the truth? (since they are best friends)?
In otherwords should I use a third party?

When you put it that way you could ask her friend if she likes you then if she doesnt already know she can ask her friend. If you friend hasnt already thought about you then maybe she will start thinking of having a relationship with you. If you ask your friend yourself if she has already thought of a relationship with you and really wants one with you then most likely she will say yes. On the other hand if she hasn't thought about it and you ask her yourself she could be caught off guard and "back away" but she will eventually start thinking about your question and maybe, eventually start liking you and would like to date you.

This was a very confusing question. Well, I think by asking that third party your best friend might find out and it could hurt your friendship. If I where you I would ask yourself. What could you lose. If she does dislike you then you have her right there to explain why this hate is happening. I hope this helped.

Let's put it this way...just assume that everything you tell 3rd person will go directly to the person you're talking about and probably not in the way originally transmitted (think of the game "telephone")...if you don't mind...then go for it!
