That is because your government does not trust its citizens. If the citizens are armed they might try and protect their families or their property without the governments help. And we all no how dangerous that can be. The government is obviously believes only they can safely use firearms. Look out America, its coming this way!
Bill of Rights, Amendment 2:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
"Here's my credo. There are no good guns, There are no bad guns. A gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a good man is no threat to anyone, except bad people." - Charlton Heston

Aw I used to live there I miss it! Could go for a Lick's veggie burger right now! I'm in eastern Ontario now...what a sh*thole!
Anyway, I have an old .22 that was my dad's. But it does not work. We keep it locked just in case. Two of my neighbours are police and they each have their own handgun. One other neighbour is an avid hunter and has 2 deer rifles. Other than that, I don't know anyone else.

I live in central Indiana. Almost everybody has a gun. I think it's great.
When I lived in New York gun ownership was frowned upon by a lot of people. The problem with that is that if it comes time to defend your life, the only one holding a gun is a criminal.
My personal philosophy is that the most successful gun control advocates were Stalin, Hitler, and Mao. If you agree with their agenda's, then vote for gun control. Otherwise, let the people remain armed to the teeth and vigilant lest somebody decide it's time to take away our liberty.

Sorry for you, mate. I suppose, like the Brits and the Aussies, you Canucks gave up your rights to own them, eh? Well, you'll never get them back. We Americans are going to KEEP ours.
I met a former Brit at a shooting range here a while back. He had a nice Remington .30-06 sporting rifle and was sighting it in for deer season. He likes the way things are in America. He said he couldn't have anything in England but a .22.

I live in southwest Virginia and nearly every home here has firearms in it.
I myself own nearly two dozen ranging from .22 caliber target pistols to .308 hunting rifles there may even be a couple of those evil assault rifles stuck in my cabinet (that is if you are narrow minded enough to consider my AK-47 evil).

We own several firearms, from handguns to shotguns. We have permits and use them for hunting and different shooting competitions. Firearms are only a threat when irresponsible people get a hold of them!

With the U.S. turning into a violent country, I now own several guns. I never believed in owning a gun but with the threat of illegals taking over, I am ready.

I live in London...just up the road. Nice to see someone from my birthplace.
I know many with handguns as many of my friends are cops. And no, I do not own one. No desire or need.
