We never had a tail, but that's beside the point.
God did not make us in his physical image, so that is a pointless question anyway.

God gave some animals tails to help balance them. God did not give man a tail because in the image of God He made man, male & female.
The only time man sports a tail is if they tie one one.

If you're going to go that route, you'd have to say God looked like an amoeba, since that's closer to where we started. If you want to go the Intelligent Design route, God has slowly created us through evolution. We might not even be there yet. However, the species of homo sapiens sapiens has never included a tail.
Mutants (homo sapiens superior) however, like Nightcrawler, may have developed tails as part of their mutation. I believe these were just experiments, so maybe God was looking for a new look.

well, seeing that the people that truly believe in creation, (i'm not talking about agnostics that like to mingle the two and make up their own theories) that God made man in his image, don't believe in evolutionary theories like "man sporting a tail", i would say...no.

Man never had a tail. Only fools think that.
Oh, and if anyone thinks that the "tailbone" is "vestigal" or "no longer needed" then I, Paul McDonald, will pay to have yours surgically removed.

When man once sported a tail he wasn't man, he was an ancient primate. And we still do have vestigial tail bones called the coccyx.

I have a tail, and if you spell my species' name backwards you get goD. Maybe he made me in his image?
God indeed has a tailbone too, and we know he also has a horny cabezza just by what happened to Mary, mother of God.
