I know this might be my dumbest question EVA! but, isn't it more polite to stay and watch the names of those who made it all possible? At least stay for... what?... 2-3 minutes?

Acknowledgement?

I don't think it's impolite. People want to get out of there 1. to get ahead of the traffic and 2. Because they have sat there long enough next to the kid pick his nose and loosing every tooth in his mouth with licorice. But I do have a funny story. If you've seen George of the Jungle (one not two), you know at the end it starts the credits and ape comes one saying not to leave. Everyone got up at what they thought were the credits and when they weren't they went back to their seats. It was the funniest thing ever!

My rule of thumb is if I liked the movie I stay and watch the credits but if I thought it sucked I leave. as for being impolite that is a personal opinion only u can say but it is rude to stand in front of people trying to read the credits

no its not impolite. have u noticed that the lights often come on a little during the credits? that is the signal that it is a good time to leave, plus the sooner everyone leaves the theater, the more time the people working there have to clean up, thus a better movie watching atmosphere.

Yeah, I guess it's nice to see the names in the credits, but then you get stuck in the parking lot with all the other schlubs who are trying to leave at the same time. Besides, you can look up that stuff on the Internet Movie Database when it gets posted there.

But if you're with someone who worked on the movie, definitely stay until their name has rolled past.

I always stay to watch, because at the end of the credits, sometimes there will be a sneak peak of the sequel and sometimes a little cutsie thing at the end of the credits just for people who stay til the end. I found that out watching the end of Pirates of the Caribbean I and II

No - it is impolite to leave when the movie is still rolling but when teh credits are.. don't worry... unless....

in the last X-men that came out, there was extras after all the credits rolled so I did stay to watch that...

It has always been my style to remain seated until the credits have rolled (I look for friends and relatives in the credits). I find it easier to leave the theater when the lights come up.
Do what you want. That's the beauty of America.

LOL...never thought of it like that...I always thought the only ones who stayed while the credits were rolling were the ones who wouldnt stop swapping spit......

Most of this country is selfish anyway. Have you seen the traffic outside of the theaters when movies are over? Plus, thats why we have awards shows for And I bought the ticket! I actually watched the movie....isn't that enough?

It's not rude; it's expected. Getting up during the credits is only rude when there are people who ARE watching them, because there's other stuff going on while they roll. Examples: Talladega Nights, Must Love Dogs, Sweet Home Alabama.

You paid for a ticket. That's your respect to the people who made it possible! ^_^

Well it depends, if its a Premiere where the celebs are also there for the opening show, its normal to be present till the credits roll out. Otherwise if its a normal show, i do not think its necessary to be present watching the credits roll be before you decide to leave.
