TKO stands for technical knockout. This can happen in a number of ways. In some states if a fighter is knocked down 3 times in one round he is considered to be "Technically Knocked Out." If a fight is stopped because of a cut that won't stop bleeding you get the TKO. Basically almost any reason that a fighter cannot continue outside of being knocked down and being counted out is a TKO. Being counted out is the classic KO. You get knocked down and you have to the count of 10 to get back to your feet. If you don't that is the KO. In the stat line the fighter in question would have 7 victories 6 by knockout. The fighter would have won one of his fights by the three judges of the fights' decision. He would have also lost 1 fight. The KO's are not differentiated between KO and TKO in the stat line of a fighter.

Techinal Knock Out. That doesn't have to mean that one boxer actually knocked the other guy "out". Just that the other boxer couldn't continue. Your example of 7-1, 6 KO's means the boxer has had 7 wins-1 loss and 6 wins by Knock outs-up to the day of the match.

TKO means fight was stopped due to a number of things other than the losing fighter getting knocked out. Fight could be stopped because the fighter could not continue due to cuts, not able to defend himself, an injury, etc. 7: means wins, 1: means losses, 6 : means knockouts including TKO's.

TECHNICAL KNOCK OUT
A technical knockout is declared when a boxer is judged physically unable to continue fighting, either due to the judgement of the referee, the official ring physician, the fighter him or herself, or the fighter's cornermen.
A technical knockout (T.K.O.) is often declared when the referee or judges decide that a fighter cannot continue the match. British records refer to TKOs as either "retired", if the fighter refuses to continue; or "R.S.F.", for Referee Stopped Fight.
