I'm getting married next year and I'm trying not to go broke or get into debt putting together my wedding. The wedding guest list is under 150 people.

Keep in mind that Chicago has it's own version of "reasonably" priced! If you really want to have it down town and inside city limits, I would suggest contacting a few of the nicer hotels. I know that sounds crazy, but the nicer hotels often have beautiful and various sized ballrooms and large catering staffs--and because of the volume of business that they do, they may be able to offer you a good price. Plus, they are often one stop shops, where you have a venue, catering, cake maker, wait staff, tables, linens, even flowers all in one place. In addition, many of these places offer an event coordinator who can b e an invaluable resource!! If this isn't an option, consider going out to the suburbs...you might find some slightly better prices.

I'm not from the Chicago area so I can't really suggest any place in particular but I can suggest that you go to the following website and look under the Local Vendors section for reception venues in Chicago.

You will have to sign up for an account (if you don't already have one) but it is free to do that. Hope you find something that works for you. Congratulations on your engagement.

In the city of Chicago? Good luck! Expect to pay upwards of $20,000 for everything if you want formal and traditional. The suburbs is a different story.
