My daughter is an only child so when Mom's at work and I've got the day off, it's just me and her. Does anyone have any suggestions for us to relieve boredom. We usually go to the playground because it's just a "default" idea. Can anyone suggest something besides playgrounds or beaches. I'm sort of on a tight budget right now too.

read to her, buy some watercolors and paint pictures with her, bake cookies, build a castle with play doh, build a fort in the living room out of blankets, have a tea party with her stuffed animals, teach her how to ride a bike, , take her to the swimming pool and teach her how to swim ...I could go on forever b/c these are things I can't wait to do with my 6 week old daughter! have fun dad she'll only be 6 years old once, but she will not forget these things.

I have twins that seem to never stop going and going and going. Walk with her read to her and play with her in or around your home. She will love it if you comb or brush her hair or even paint her finger nails. Walk around the malls and see the different cloths that are now in style for her. Do some shopping for school supplies and let her pick out the colors for her back pack. Time with the child need not be expensive nor tiring but enjoyable so that you both realize that your love for each other can and will grow.

My kids love building and playing in 'forts'. You guys should make a room a fort with blankets and towels...Have a picnic lunch in the fort and let her take her nap in it. She'll have a blast playing pretend with you, and the 'building' process will wear her out.
