Ok, my cat George, has fleas... for the first time in all of his 3 years. as well as both of my dogs. Question is...what is the best flea treatment for a cat? he is a long haired Turkish van. He has a gorgeous coat, that I don't want to look greasy, but at the same time, this cat needs to be treated. How can I spare his looks lol ?

Advantage, Frontline and Revolution all work.

Properly applied they won't make George look greasy. The idea is to part the fur and squirt the tube onto the skin.

Even if you mess up and leave George with an "oil slick," it will be gone in a couple days.

Tests have shown that all three products work about equally well, but Advantage works a little quicker. That might be worth considering since George already has fleas.

On the other hand, Advantage has a pungent chemical smell, while Frontline is almost odorless. So it will be a lot easier to sneak up on George and apply the stuff before he can object if you use Frontline. (I don't know what Revolution smells like.)

DO NOT use that Hartz Mountain product! Hartz Mountain flea drops were pulled from the market last year because they're dangerous and have killed many dogs and cats! But distributors and retailers were allowed to sell product already in the pipeline, so the stuff is still available.

also, DO NOT buy any flea product on line, or anywhere but from a vet practice that gets it directly from a manufacturer's rep. Dangerous counterfeits have flooded the market and even legitimate retailers have been fooled into accepting them. Many dogs and cats have died!

I don't have cats, but since your dogs have to be teated too, here's what I did two months ago with mine, and all the fleas are gone...
Go buy some Hartz flea & tick medicine that you put a line down their backs. Also, buy some flea stuff that you sprinkle on your carpet. And, get some flea & tick spray that kills fleas, eggs, and larvae to spray on your bedding and furniture. My dogs also wear flea and tick collars and I change them every 4 weeks.
Hope this helps!
P.S. When you give them a bath, be sure to keep a big pile of suds on top of their head because the fleas run to the head to get away from the water, but they'll die if they can't breathe.

I know that some cats do not like water but use lemon joy
the limon the fleas do not like that, Then you use your cat or dog shamppoo. If you can't rid of the fleas take them to the vet for treatment ok.

Go to you vet and pick up FRONTLINE. It is best for killing fleas and it lasts a long time. I have 2 cats and 5 dogs and it works.

Your cat & your dogs can be successfully treated for fleas & SHOULD be.
FRONTLINE PLUS (can be purchased from your Vet) It is available for cats & dogs (dosage based on weight).
Since you had to ask about fleas, it would be a good idea to also have your animals treated for internal parasites as well, if they haven't already been.

Frontline.... it works really good... it might look a little greasy for a day or 2 when you first put it on, but after that he'll be flea-free and as gorgeous as always.

I use Revolution for both my cats & my dog. This is the only heartworm preventative available for cats.

I have been getting it online from the same supplier for almost 3 years with no problems. It is about $20/box less than at the vet's office, and the site I use shows you the expiration date before you order.

I think its called advantage... Im not sure how well it works, but I know its just like a drop behind his ears and neck. That way it wont mess up his looks... Make sure he doesnt lick it though, I think it works because it is a poison to the fleas.

take him to the vet and have him dipped and after that make sure you keep a flea collar on him. You also want to bomb your house a yard.
