She nurses fine, is growing and moving. But when she opens her mouth to cry nothing comes out.

When it comes to vocalization, cats are similar to people. Some cats are very quiet, some are very chatty.

I have a cat that is 7 now. When she was a kitten she never meowed or purred. Otherwise she was always friendly. Now the only time she ever meows is when I come home from a business trip, a very loud meow to let me know she was ticked off that I left.

Anyway to answer your question, as long as the kitten is feeding and energetic, don't worry about the lack of meowing.

What is the other behaviour of this kitten? Is she/he drinking properly, feeding off the mother correctly/interacting with the other kittens in a normal, expected fashion? Is it gaining weight, etc?
If there is anything else off with the kitten besides the crying/meowing, I would consult with a vet. But, if the kitten is good in every other way, he/she may just be quiet, or hasn't found its voice yet! Good luck!

It doesn't sound like there's too much of a problem. Is it strong and does it do what the other kittens do? I had a kitten like that and it's meow was really low and quiet. I named it Cry.

My cat Kylie is a real chatterbox, even when I tell her off she provides me backchat, she does countless little meows in a row and her whiskers twitch like mad! lol. Bobbie on the different hand not often meows back at me and whilst she does its greater of a mumble, meows with a closed mouth. She quickly will develop her voice whilst she needs me to speed up and positioned her dinner down on the floor for her to consume! lol.

umm something may be wrong...if it is really small and smaller then the others then it probably is the runt...all my cats that i have had the runt has always died except for one time...there may be nothing wrong with it... if it is not with the rest of the group all the time...or its not always on the mommy cat...then it may be sick... usually the mom cat will kill there kittens if there is something wrong with it...thats what my cat has done with the past 3 liters she has had..so hope that helps

My cat had 9 kittens! Ha! I got you beat! They are like that when they're young. Don't worry- they'll meow you to death eventually. ;D

Sometimes it just takes a little longer for them to be vocal. It may take longer for them to start purring also.
One of my cats took a little longer to start "talking" to me than the other. Now he doesn't shut up! :)
