I am a 35 yr old male, fit and started exercise again. I run on the treadmill and I try to stay in my Target Heart Rate. What I notice is that when I am running, my heart rate will shoot up very high (between 195 to 205). I recover relatively fast to my THR after 60 seconds and when I slow down a bit, but is this spike normal for healthly people?

I should also add that I use the heart rate monitor device on the treadmill, dont know how accurate those things are. I don't experience any dizziness or sickness or feel faint at all during the exercise.

You'd have to be really cranking away to go that fast. The highest I've brought my heart rate up to is about 190 and that was in the closing meters of a race.

Those heart rate devices are notoriously off. They take an average and sort of guestimate.

My guess is that you cranked up the intensity, the heart rate monitor detected you were moving a faster and interpolated your heart rate. Once you slowed down a bit it got a more accurate reading. My Polar heart rate monitor that I wear does the same thing.

Good luck.

that high? no way

that's way too high for you to even be standing up. Make sure that you're actually counting it right, because that's the first thing that comes to mind, especially if you're not noticing any other symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, or palpitations

other than that, I'd go see a doctor, as a heart rate of 200 is very likely to kill you if it lasts for an extended period of time

I actually have executed races formerly the position my heart price receives to love 220 or so and that i'm 20 yrs previous and am meant to be 2 hundred bpm. The formulation isn't very precise, max heart price is max heart ratet, above that you're going to sense your heart wreck itself and it will be a heart attack. Run on my pal.
