So, we (me and my fiance) started out with 2 pitbulls who were very hard to train, and we never quite got it done all the way, then I had to leave for 4 months and my fiance didn't quite pick up the lead in training them. I come home and our carpet is destroyed (ripped up) the house smells like a port a potty and my dogs are running crazy. To top it all off I brought home a puppy half pitbull and half beagle and now we're going crazy, they have no house manners in any area what so ever.....somebody please help me!!!!

I swear by Alpha Training. There are many ways you can show your dogs who's boss. Verbally and through your body language. You don't want to get physical with them. Go online and look up some suggestions for alpha training or you can contact me and I'll tell you the techniques I personally like.

Dogs - especially pitbulls because they're so smart - are capable of quickly changing for the better. This does not have to be a difficult thing.

It kinda depends on how old they are. I definatly suggest going to obedience training. They must be obedince trained. And get yourself someone bitter apple. If they chew on something spray it on the carpet or a bit in there mouth. You need to be able to keep a watchful eye on them, but when you can't put them in a crate. It will take awhile before you see any big changes but it can be done. I also suggest using a pinch collar, since your dogs sounds so out of control. Also take sometime read articles on dominate and ou of control dogs.Keep on working at it, and don't give up. Good luck!!

Don't Rub the dogs nose in it if they piss on the floor. Just say no in a stern, not screaming voice and lead them out side. Don't let the dogs get the best of you

Here is a great site

Just google dominate dogs

Well, you have a lot of work to do and I think you madea big mistake by bringing home a third dog when you already had problems with the two you already have. Even if you didn't know the extent of what was going on while you were away, you knew they were difficult to handle and still got a third dog. Secondly, it's always harder to train two new dogs at once, now you have three. Pitbulls on top of everything else are especially difficult, particularly for inexperienced owners. I would suggest seeking professional help and consider placing one or more of these dogs with a rescue or loving home.

You may need to enlist the services of a professional trainer because it sounds like things may have gotten to a point that will be difficult to deal with without professional help.

But other than that my first suggestion is to hit the books. There are hundreds of books on dog training out there. There are thousands of web sites. Look for ones written by credentialed dog trainers with lots of experience. There's even books written just for training dogs who are bully breads (such as pit bulls). Some of the best ones are actually the "For Dummies" books. Dog Training For Dummies is actually quite good.

So, do some serious reading then select the method you want to use. There are many methods out there (I prefer clicker training for independent breed dogs such as terriers) and you'll have to select the one you think your dogs would do best with. Remember to pick a method that can be applied to many situations, not just sit-down-stay, but to crate-training and potty-training as well since it sounds like all dogs could use some remedial training in those areas.

Then you'll have to start back at the beginning, back at Day One. The dogs will have to be confined as if they were puppies. That means crating, tethering or one-room confinement. They have to EARN free run of the house again since right now it seems they can't handle it.

You and your boyfriend will have to be 100% consistent once you pick a method. You have three dogs, that's a HUGE handful, so if something seems like it's totally too anal retentive or too uptight or too strict, you're probably on the right track. Both of you have to make a commitment to having well-behaved well-trained dogs. If your boyfriend just doesn't care and continues to just let them do whatever when you're not around, the training will fail.

A dog can be trained at any age. I recently adopted a 2 year old dog who'd been an outside-only dog all of his life had no training at all, and successfully housetrained, crate-trained, and obedience trained him in a few months. Multi-dog households can be a huge challenge even with well-behaved dogs, so you've got a big job on your hands. You may decide to concentrate on training one dog at a time with just the fundamentals, and not all three at once, just to make it more manageable. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, just as long as you and your boyfriend agree as to which dog is "in training" at the moment, and that dog gets 100% consistent training work for the duration.

Good luck! A well-behaved well-trained dog is truly a joy, but a monster dog is sooooo frustrating, it makes you want to tear all your hair out!

go to your local petsmart and check out their training classes.
we took our lab pup there for classes (every sunday 8 wks) and it was the best $100 we EVER spent!

they can help with potty training and any training...it's never too late!

our dog is house trained, however, we are going the extra step, with our trainer's help, to teach him to ring a little bell everytime he needs to go outside to potty.
i didn't think it was working, but he actually rang the bell the other day!!! it was very cool!

so, get some professional help. and one thing you both need to remember,.....consistency is EVERYTHING in training your animals. so, keep it up and they'll get it.

take care.

You have to show them who the alpha is. You need to let them know when they are doing bad. When one of them goes to the bathroom in your house stick their nose in it and then put the dog outside while saying no. As for the carpet I suggest you get laminate wood floors. or if all else fails take them to your local petco or petsmart they have dog training courses. hope everything works out for you.
