No it should not be.
Your mom is getting carried away with this!
Dogs should not eat her food, somethimes it can hurt the dog.
If he drinks out of the same cup, and she drinks it, she could get sick. I mean there are bad things in dogs, a dog could not be healthy but acts it. That is bad my friends mom did the same thing and her dog died. (because of what she was feeding him.)
The dog can be home alone it will not hurt him. He will probaly just sleep the whole time. Living in the house is fine though.
Sleeping with her is also fine, as long as not on the pillow she sleeps on.(The dog might have flees.)

I can understand some people treating there dog like a child if they don't have any children or can't have any children, but for someone who already has children it's kind of strange, especially the dog having a birthstone between you and your brother on her ring. And the plate and water cup thing is just to much. I think you are very justified.

I can understand what your going through, my mom is the same way, minus the eating off the plate thing. But we have had our dog for about 13 years and my mom is always better to him than me, it seems like. I don't think you should feel to bad about it, I use to but now I realize my mother is a single lady who raised 3 kids, good kids but still I am sure it was difficult for her to raise kids, so I guess the dog gives her companionship, you know the dog doesn't argue, talk back, or get bad grades, so my point is that everyone needs a companion for friendship, she loves you all I am sure but she probably needs a companion too.

Well, when you adopt a dog you'll usually fall in love with it and treat him/her as part of the family. Your mother just sees the dog as another one of her children. (It's like when you have a younger sibling, they get all the attention and you don't.)
Just remember, she'll always favor you & your brother more than the dog because you're her REAL children and the dog won't live as long as you will.

If your mom feels lonely, then she wants company. That's how she sees the dog pehaps as a protection and refuge. If she likes to give it food and shelter just like her there's were I don't agree, unless she takes it to the vet all the time for check-ups. It could have fleas and parasites. Watch out!

No she just loves her dog. Please don't be jealous of a dog you don't need to your mom knows the difference between her human children and her dog kid. Sounds like she is lonely and her dog is her best friend. I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

sounds like u're jealous of the dog; dogs are LIKE children, they're not actual children, in the way that they need someone to take care of them also. try talking to ur mother about how u feel since u seem to be the one with the problem---just stating a fact, not trying to be mean on purpose.

There is enough love for your mom to give to you and the dog also. It sounds like she has gone a bit overboard, but it it makes her happy, then so be it. Let her have what makes her happy. If you her, you would want her to be happy, wouldn't you?

Yes and no. I can understand finding it a bit odd, but you also should pity her. She is obviously lonely and missing having a child to care for. The dog needs her and she obviously needs to feel needed.
