All the weimaraners I've known have been quite stupid by dog standards. It shouldn't affect the sense of smell; don't forget that their sense of smell is over 40 times more sensitive than ours, but also there are significant differences - dogs cannot tell the difference between good meat and bad meat, they can only smell meat. We know it's off by the smell. Don't worry about it.

Drinking out of the toilet is a common dog thing. Our lab mix does it even when his water dish is full. My husband is a plumber. He says the water that fills the toilet bowl after flushing is just normal water, the same as what comes out of the tap in your sink. It won't hurt your dog at all. If you don't want him to do it, make sure he has a bowl of fresh water at all times and keep the lid to the toilet closed. Our daughter and son-in-law have a Weimaraner (it is their second, the first, very sadly, was killed by a car). She loves to drink out of the toilet. They keep the lid closed so now she jumps in the tub and has figured out how to get water out of the tub spout even though she has water in her dish. Your dog's sense of smell will not be ruined.

His sense of smell is fine. Water just stays cooler in the often fresh water, porcelain toilet bowl than it does in his plastic or been-sitting-around-for-a-day bowl. Try giving him some ice cubes throughout the day. He'll probably love it and curb from the toilet.

No it won't bother the dogs sense of smell but would be healthier for him to have a water bowl other than your toliet.
If you are worried about the dogs sense of smell do not put cedar ships in the bedding they can actually dull the dogs smell.
We are very careful not to have ceadar in our hunters beds.

No, probably not. It's got more of a chance of becoming very ill though. Maybe you had better give the dog some normal drinking water.

O.K. this only one bad habit your dog has so don't worry about it, after all they go about smelling each others arses so it seems quite normal to me. If he craps all over your carpets you only have yourself to blame for not closing the bog door.

sounds as if he's thirsty, make sure he has a large bowl of fresh water, and keep bathroom door shut.. if you put cleaner down the loo it will effect more then his sense of smell, esp bleach.

listening to, as even inspite of the undeniable fact that scent might want to be sensible each now and then, it would want to truly have major downsides. listening to on the different hand might want to be very powerful in numerous cases, be they listening to song, overhearing information, or with the ability to inform even as choppers are coming (gotta love Radar).

No, but it's a little yucky, don't you think? Can't you just give him a bowl of fresh water and keep the loo door closed??!
