Is there something wrong with being happy single? I don't have to worry about things like pregnancy, STDs, money... It seems like everyone but me wants me to get involved in a relationship. Anyone feel the same?

The people around you think you are gay, right? When you're ready go for it.

Good for you! I took a little over a year "off" from dating in my late 20s. It was a wonderful thing, but my friends were very surprised and kept trying to find out who I was "really" seeing. I think everybody should take at least a year or so and be their own significant other, so to speak. There is a lot of peer pressure, at younger and younger ages, to be dating someone else - but the popularity of any particular notion never did make it a good one.

Nothing wrong with being happy single. When you meet the right person then date them. When I dated I had one requirement that I never dated anyone that I would not want to marry or knot want to be the father of my children.

Look well when you date, only date people who are your equals. Date only people who you would want to marry some day and want them as the mother of your children and some one who has a even temperament and a good sense of humor. Do not let any one push you into dating.

Don't let society dictate what you do, but it is inherent for people to want to couple and find happiness and therefore to want that happiness for their family and friends, even acquaintances. I am happy for you that you are content single, but have to tell you that if I knew you, I would probably want to fix you up with some nice, attractive single. Obviously, you are not actively looking, but if the right person comes along, I believe you are in for a rude LOVE awakening.

You are being subjected to peer pressure, because most people who are joiners and prefer to be like everyone else, will become jealous of self sufficient people. They will try to change you and make you more like themselves, but there is no way thay you can be happy doing what they think you should do.

You obviously are an individual unto yourself and you could never be happy being anything else. It is wrong of them to pressure you into doing what they think you should do.

Yes! All my friends are in serious relationships and I'm not. I am 21 and going to school and they act like I need a boyfriend and like my biological clock is ticking....I'm only 21 come on now...I want to get my stuff under control-school, career etc...before I worry about someone else in my life....I totally agree with you.

Heck Yeah! I feel the same exact way. I really don't need a boyfriend but my best friend thinks it is so necessary for me to have one. I love being single and flirty.

Its all preference, if you want to be single then so be it. If your gay and don't want to tell anybody then that's a different story and probably a different question.

Finding a partner is just a natural thing. It does seem a little odd when someone is single their entire life.

I absolutely agree with you. I have always been miserable in relationships. Being single and having your own personal freedom is worth way more than what other people think.

I'm pressured by my mother. I'm 28 and she's constantly urging me to go out and meet people.

And it's not that I'm gay or lack invitations. It's just at this time, I'm not ready to get into the dating scene.
