Were you manhandling a squirrel or did it attack you?
It depends on the squirrel, go to a doctor ASAP. It could be really serious.

Every MAMMAL has the possibility to be infected with rabies. (Mammals nurse their young)So squirrels and humans can both be infected. However, unless here is a rabies outbreak in your area, it is not likely the squirrel was rabid. You may have to get the shots anyway if you can't find and capture the specific squirrel so it can be tested for diease.

A ground squirrel is a mammal, an all mammals can carry rabies.

There was a squirl around here killed the otherday and confirmed to have rabies. He was attacking people.
