The theory that Jesus ever existed is based on evidence, like any theory. Sometimes a testable hypothesis can be created to prove or disprove a theory. Sometimes not. The theory that Jesus lived is untestable. So it will never be proven. There is, oh, a billion times more evidence from a multitude of scientific fields that corresponds to point to the theory of evolution. But is it ultimately testable to prove EVERY step? Jesus doesn't care.

Eli, thanks, I have to use small words and simple concepts, at the expense of strict definition.

Of course. At one time "the Earth is round" was a theory. Of course, once it becomes a fact, it stops being a theory. But that doesn't mean that it wasn't always a fact, even when it was a theory. So...my head just exploded.

There is no 'theory' that states that Jesus existed.
There are the biblical stories, but that IS NOT a theory by any stretch of the imagination.
--------
definition of theory and hypothesis
# a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena; "theories can incorporate facts and laws and tested hypotheses"; "true in fact and theory"
# hypothesis: a tentative theory about the natural world; a concept that is not yet verified but that if true would explain certain facts or phenomena; "a scientific hypothesis that survives experimental testing becomes a scientific theory"; "he proposed a fresh theory of alkalis that later was accepted in chemical practices"

First, History is not testable. The recordings of it can be, and many point to the fact that Jesus lived on earth in the time of Augustus Caesar and King Herod. Whether He was the God-Man is the big question. Jesus' existence is not a thoery to be proven or not. It is a fact.

Well I'm lost.
When did Jesus become a theory?
Yes, A theory can be fact, most theories are based on facts, evidence.
Unforuntaly there is hardly any evidence supporting Jesus and God. Well, I mean, unfortunatly for religious people.

In science, a theory is a proven set of results, roughly translated it is a fact!, Just liek the theory of Evolution, I dont want to step on any toes here, but it has been proven several times with concrete evidence.
Gravity is a theory, many other things that we use everyday are theory, but that word is very misleading, becasue it translates into fact in the scientific context.
So when creationists say that evolution is just a theory, they are actually stating that it is factual!

A theory, by defintion & practice, cannot be a fact. A theory is a scientific hypothesis that explains an observed phenomen & which has a lot of evidence in support of it. The observed phenomen is the fact, the theory tries to explain the fact using scientific methods.

A scientific theory takes a lot of study and testing before it is even labeled a theory. There are also peer reviews and so forth. I don't think people quite understand what a theory is in the first play before they start using it.

One day, we shall all, and I mean all, see if Jesus existed or not. I believe He did. No one has proven evolution to me. I am old enough that I din't have to study that "theory".
Just sign me as: Waiting for that trumpet to sound and Jesus to appear and split the eastern sky.

The fact that Jesus did exist is proven and will remain proven despite secular society's attempt to remove all evidence that he did from recorded human history because they find his teachings offensive, as for the evidence of evolution, it is fabricated and untestable. irregardless of what evidence you have to the contrary or how much credibility the world assigns to it.

Tests are used to prove theories. Any test that proves a theory that is repeatable proves the theory to be fact.
